Read some of the reviews before trying this place and they were right. I am from Austin and have found my place for barbacoa. Thank you those of you who mentioned it from San Antonio! It was great. Only thing is if you go there order more than just two tacos. The tacos are small like street tacos so if you are hungry get plenty.

I believe this is the only spot that sells barbacoa in the Springs; unless I'm mistaken. I don't think they make tortillas from scratch though unless that changes within the last couple months. Great food, reminds of the food when I was stationed in San Antonio. :)

This place is legit. One of the few places I know that serve decent papusas. It's a tiny little place and pretty bare bones inside but the food is incredible and people are really friendly. It's in the same corner lot as Bambinos and Short Stop, but it's kind of hidden in the corner. Everything I've had there was great, and their fried chicken was surprisingly delicious. I ordered some papusas and mentioned something about getting the fried chicken next time, and they brought out two huge fried chicken breasts with our meal for us to try. I thought it was a very kind gesture. At any rate, make this place a priority to eat at.

Las Americas in Colorado Springs Colorado Springs Food Guy visited Las Americas Restaurant located at 467 Circle Dr., Colorado Springs CO 80909. This is a casual Mexican restaurant with very friendly service. Yesica is the owner-operator that always greets every customer with smile. The atmosphere is simple and comfortable. I sampled the steak tacos and marinated pork Sopes. They also serve breakfast dishes all day. The food is very tasty and very reasonably priced. If you are in the mood for good home-style Mexican food, visit Las Americas Restaurant.

Some times looks aren't deceiving!!! This place is a throw-back 1960's style hole-I'm-the-wall. And the food tastes the same way the place looks. The worst tacos I've every had. I ordered the langua tacos and they burnt them into crispy pellets that had no flavor. The tacos are the smallest street taco you could imagine and they aren't cheap. Your going to spend $2 or more per taco. At this rate I would have to spend $12 bucks just to be full. There motto should be "STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS". Cause I now I am right after eating 3 taco that cost me $7.50 I will give them 2 lucky stars for a their nice hot green sauce.

Muy bien. Some of the best "street tacos" I've had here in town. My favorite are the steak tacos. Not that big of a fan of their al pastor. They give a generous helping of meat in their tacos. The red sauce they give with their tacos is pretty spicy, too spicy for me. I can take it in small doses. I recently purchased some tamales from Las Americas and they were pretty good. I'd love to say they were amazing, but they were not. However, the tacos here are delicious. The people working here always seem welcoming and serve up your order quickly. As another reviewer stated, this is one of those "hole in the wall" restaurants. Those places usually serve up some of the best food. It's pretty bare bones in side and not much to look at. I'm guessing the equipment and furnishings are all second hand. The menu is posted up on the wall. This place is tucked away in the corner of the shopping area, close to the Bambino's. Don't blink or you'll miss it.

Worst food I've had. Seriously. Two gorditas took 30 minutes to come out of the kitchen. The meat was dry and scarce in the gorditas. On top of that, they didn't have anything else in them. No cheese, no sour cream, no lettuce, no tomatoes. They were also oozing grease. Will never come back to this place.

ATMOSPHERE: This place is not your way to visit the sights of C Springs like the Academy or Garden of the Gods. The location is off the beaten path it is one of those places you only know is there because you've been there before or your friend told you specifically how to look for it. The current main picture doesn't do it justice because they just put up a new sign. Coming from Salinas, this place reminds me of home because you definitely should order in Spanish and have some confidence in doing so. SERVICE: You order at the counter, so there is not a lot of waiter-customer interaction. The food was timely and she was nice, that's all I could really want as far as good service. FOOD: I had a carnitas plate while my friend had the barbacoa. Best carnitas I've ever had. For my friend, he said it reminded him of his mom's home cooking (so obviously this place is on point). From the presentation to the very last bite with homey subtleties such as the home made salsa. It was awesome. PRICE: Totally worth it, duh. GO AGAIN?: Like I said before, it's a little off the beaten path . . . BUT! If I know I have the time to get some really good Mexican, I will come here every time. I had been on the search for some really rockin' Mexican food and I finally found it. I think I will give it another star with a few more visits to confirm the level of delicious.

One extra star if they serve lime wedges with the tacos. I called my dad and said "I found a taco place that reminds me of Santa Ana, CA." They sell tacos and knock-off purses side-by-side. Yep. That kind of place. Everything I had - tacos and pupusas - was delicious. There was a short wait for the food to come out (it looks like things are made fresh), and it's lacking in ambiance. I'll be back.

Legit Mexican fare right here. It's a hole in the wall type place, but you won't be disappointed! I'm from Los Angeles where there's lots of traditional Mexican cuisine to be had and yes... They are the real deal!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
